Negative points: The property contacted us saying the room we booked was not available and that we should book elsewhere. They never cancelled our booking (cancellation from our side would have an extra cost) and we were marked as no-show.
Fortunatelly booking.com customer support helped us to get our money back.

Positive points: It's a very central but noisy location. It's fairly rough and ready but ok. The top floor room is pretty good. And all in all the place is ok for the price.

Review: Intentions strategy displaying the best building to gain rating while the rest 2 building are bad. Pls do aware that of type of room chosen and depending luck of guest assign to which building.
If you were in bad building, will see spider web, muddy toilet, high tech shower kit with crowded toilet.
It might be at night spider would cross over your body. Yet, purposely turn off the main suis board that make you unable to turn on air cond.
Please think twice or even don’t ever to think to stay if you are not able to manage the situation.
The 2 cents comment is “good luck” for anyone if assign to bad building.

Positive points: The location

Negative points: I was misled by the positive reviews and booked a stay at Sophie Hotel Hanoi, but it turned out to be a complete disappointment. The only highlight is its excellent location near the Cathedral, but even that comes with a downside: the Old Quarter is incredibly noisy until midnight and the noise starts again at 5am.

The room had a strong unpleasant smell, and while the bed was comfortable, the pillows reeked of body odor. The sheets were clean, and the old towels provided surprisingly smelled fresh, but that’s where the positives end.

The hotel clearly hasn’t been maintained in decades. The wardrobe smelled terrible, the fridge was a mess with a massive block of ice preventing the door from closing, and it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. The bathroom was full of mold, and the sink’s tap was loose. The balcony I paid extra for was filthy, with walls rotting and doors that didn’t close properly. Sticky handles and decades-old decor added to the unpleasant experience.

The final straw was when I accidentally dropped my phone cable under the bed. Pulling it out, I discovered a used condom—utterly disgusting and a testament to how unhygienic this place is.

I genuinely don’t understand how this hotel is rated clean. It’s a total rip-off. Avoid at all costs unless you want a terrible experience!
