Review: Staying here made us (we were a family with elderly parents) feel at home. The staff are lovely, the food they made us for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are heartwarming, mouthwatering home-cooked meals. We loved the quiet, the dogs and the simplicity of the place 🤍
Positive points: Thu and her family/staff were awesome! She gave an amazing tour of the local community. Great rustic chic home stay. Cooking was fantastic. So helpful & accommodating.
Review: Peace Farm is more than just a beautiful place to stay, it was a top highlight of our entire trip. The food was the best we’ve tasted in Viet Nam, lovingly prepared by the staff with top quality local ingredients, and something unique and different every meal. It was so good we decided to eat every meal here. They also make incredible vegetarian dishes. The property is so idyllic that we barely left. We spent our time on hammocks under the shade of the pagodas over the river, enjoying a complementary foot bath provided by our host, touring her soap making facility, and relaxing in our bungalow. We also went for a great bike ride under the coconut palms along the riverside. The host, Thu, is one of the most inspiring women we have met. She has built everything here: thoughtfully designed and comfortable bungalows, an impressive coconut and herb processing facility where she makes handmade and high quality coconut oil based soaps and face products, and a lush green paradise on the edge of the river that we simply did not want to leave. Thank you for our wonderful stay!
Positive points: Beautiful location right on the river. The bungalows are adorable, the food was good, the host was super sweet. The tour (big boat and small boat) was so fun. Especially the small boat part which included a bicycle ride and a little hangout with tea and crispy coconut rice paper snack that we toasted ourselves. Highly recommend this experience if you want to get away from our all and experience a bit of rural Mekong.
Negative points: It's tricky to get there but so worth it. There are no restaurants around but the meals at the homestay are fantastic!
Positive points: What can I say? I’ve never met a host that takes hospitality to this level. The lovely landlady running this property is so warm and gentle. Besides that she also is a very good cook and soap maker. The Homestay is a little bit off the beaten path directly on the river bank. If you want to get to town just take one of the many bicycles free for use. Coming back to our host: She took care of everything, like dinner and breakfast. But she also managed that we would be picked up by the bus the next day by calling the bus agency as well as a taxi driver to take us to the right pickup spot. She organized a short notice boat tour on the river including a phenomenal lunch at a local carpenter’s private home. If you are looking to experience the Mekong Delta you found the right spot.
Negative points: The beds are on the harder side of things, but we slept surprisingly well, but it could bother some.
Positive points: This is a fantastic farmstay spot if you're looking to relax and chill. Not much to do around, besides bicycling and doing their tours (which I recommend!), so don't expect many activities and sights to see, this is a place to slow down and enjoy life. The girls from the staff are great - kind, friendly and helpful but at the same time working hard to keep the place running. I felt like I was staying in someone's home for the first time during my long visit to Vietnam. Good food and chill vibes.
Negative points: The bicycles collection could use a refresh and an upgrade
Positive points: In our month in Vietnam, when visiting both the North and South, we stayed in a variety of places from very nice hotels to home stays. They were all very different and mostly very good to excellent. We stayed in Nong Trai Thann Thoi for 4 nights as a base to ride our bicycles around this area of the Mekong Delta. Our experience was excellent, from the tucked away location on the side of the river (did some yoga overlooking the Delta most evenings), the separate (well appointed) very private cabins, the beautiful grounds, fabulous food, and very very nice owner and staff. Although not a focus of our stay, with all these positives, it was, also, extremely good value.
Negative points: Although not a big problem for us, the hot water, for showering, was created by direct solar heating of the water, so no hot water in the morning. For us this meant no hot showers in the morning, but the water was not very cold,, so it made for an invigorating start to the day. At night, after some long bicycle rides, there was hot water for a shower which was great and much appreciated. Another thing to note is that in Vietnam it seems culturally acceptable to play music very loudly in and outside your house. This area was no exception, so there is often unexplained, and unnecessary, relatively loud music to be heard (not from the home stay itself). Although it would be better without it, you get used to it and there seems to be nothing that the owners can do about it.... just part of the culture.
Positive points: Great stay. Super staff, kind and attentive. Clean room. Magnificent décoration in room. Best location on the Mékong with hammocks and chilling areas on the water. A bit far from Ben Tre but the trip is absolutely worth it. Direct bus from HCMC available. You can reach the homestay by walking 20 minutes from bus stop. High recommended.
Negative points: May need ear plugs as there are morning announcements on the village speakers.
