Review: Friendly staff. Good breakfast buffet with yummy special yogurt. However, the pool and the elevator are quite small. Noise from vehicles on the street is also not well soundproofed.
Positive points: The classic vintage feel of this hotel makes it a fun stay. The rooms are spacious and ours looked out onto the Mekong Delta where we could see the floating villages and watch the river activity. The staff, especially in the restaurant, are amazing and the food was delicious.
Negative points: The hotel needs some work, especially the pool area.
Review: Memorable stay indeed as we added up one additional day to just relax in a highly comfortable setting. The view from the hotel overlooking the delta is really spectacular.
Positive points: What a great location to stay at to get on the ferry to Phnom Penh. Breakfast starts early enough to eat before the ferry sets out. Nice views of the Mekong River.
Negative points: The mosquitos come out at night so must keep the windows closed.
Review: only the mosquito is out concern over the night there. My mother and I got bitten 😭 .Others are all good.
Positive points: Its location right on the ferry landing from where we were taking the boat to Phnom Penh. Just about everybody stays there for the same reason, as a transit hub for the journey up the Mekong. Indeed, the hotel reception is also the check-in desk for the boat.
Negative points: The hotel is pretty faded now - it could do with a bit of sprucing up - and it’s comparatively expensive for Vietnam. The food is second-rate too, certainly compared to the generally great food we’ve had during the rest of our trip.
Review: This is a great old colonial hotel that has a fantastic outlook over the river and close to the boat trip to Phnom Penh
Positive points: Great breakfast
Negative points: This is an extremely noisy hotel, unfortunately one of the noisiest I have experienced for this category. The property is located between a very busy road and a river. On the road side, traffic noise is constant and overwhelming. On the river side, there are frequent evening parties with loud music, as well as early-morning yoga sessions with amplified sound. There is simply no quiet side of the hotel. Earplugs are absolutely necessary, regardless of room location. Given the hotel’s positioning and price point, this was a major disappointment. The restaurant is highly rated online, including on TripAdvisor, but in reality it is average at best and very expensive for what is offered. I have been traveling to Vietnam for over 40 years and have stayed in all categories of accommodation. This review is not meant to criticize unfairly, but to give an honest assessment. For a hotel of this level, the lack of peace and quiet was unacceptable and far from what we expected.
Review: If you are a light sleeper, please avoid booking the rooms that face the street. Our toddler struggled sleeping due to traffic sound and frequent honking.
Positive points: If you need to go to Chau Doc, this is the place to stay 😊
Negative points: It’s slightly worn out and would require some refurbising to return it to its original glory.
Positive points: Location , river views ,
Negative points: Hotel tries to rip you off with taxi abs tour costs ( 2x and more what you get outside?
Review: We booked a 3-night stay at the Victoria Hotel Chau Doc over the TET holiday. What a great location in the heart of things. The staff(front desk, bar team, restaurant, housekeeping, spa) we're all kind, friendly and open to conversation. Our room was 111 overlooking the pool and the river. It was stunning! Highly recommended for value, location and service
Positive points: Everything.
Negative points: Nothing.
Review: The Victoria Chau Doc is run with big city polish while providing all of the amenities of a waterfront resort. The multi-lingual staff are very well trained in the art of providing seamless hospitality. And the setting is mesmerizing with endless views of riverfront activity. Book an extended stay because one night is not enough!
Positive points: We had a great stay. Sadly only for one night because we were getting a boat to Cambodia but the hotel took us back in time (although it isn't actually as old as it is designed to look,) the staff were great and the view from the top floor suite was amazing and the price couldn't be beat.
Review: The hotel is in an amazing situation right on the river. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious with many varied options and eggs cooked to order. There were little extras such as a 5 minute free massage on arrival and a chocolate brought to your room at tea time that added to the experience.
Positive points: The view of the river was wonderful and the breakfast buffet was decent.
Negative points: Unfortunately, it was overpriced for what you get. It wasn’t outstanding by local or international standards.
Review: The boat docks behind the hotel, you walk up the ramp straight to reception it's so easy! Very professional, friendly staff and rooms were lovely overlooking the river. Just be careful walking around the pool it's very slippery. Food in the restaurant was delicious.
Positive points: Excellent location and very hospitable staff.
Negative points: None
