Review: Spent so many hours drinking beer and looking at the Mekong. I recommend the boat tour offered at the homestay. There are some local food stalls and shop available nearby. Dinner at the homestay is really nice.
Positive points: Fantastic place run by very nice friendly family. It is located on a car free island, on the shore. The boat trip organized by the hotel was very interesting and informative. Meals were simply excellent. By renting a motorbike one can explore the whole delta of Mekong. I would like to come back.
Review:
After reading the very positive reviews perhaps I was expecting too much. Stayed 2 nights in a fairly basic bungalow.
Like many hotels / homestays in Vietnam this place could do with a good clean and some maintenance.
Located 1 km from the ferry (an easy walk) overlooking the Mekong River with Vinh Long city on the other side
Views obstructed by fish farms but interesting to watch the passing boat traffic..
Did the 4 hour boat tour that visited some local small scale industry like coconut candy, brickworks, honey and fruit farm. Plus travelling down some smaller tributaries. Finished off with lunch back at homestay which was delicious food. Cost 500,000 VND.
Free bicycles in various states of disrepair available to explore the area. It's dead flat and no cars so good for cycling apart from the incessant heat.
So it was ok for a short stay but don't expect too much.
Positive points: Very interesting place.Small village vibes. Beautiful riverside cabin's location. Gorgeous sunrise and sunset. Lovely staffs and friendly owner. Fresh meal cook and serve per request ...
Negative points: See thru curtain can not provide enough shades. Bathroom needs some improvement.
Review: We enjoyed a relaxing stay at the Mekong Riverside Homestay. They have a half day tour which was good. Breakfast is included and she also has lunch and dinner for a fee. The rooms are basic but comfortable. We were only in the room at night. Bikes are available to use. It is a bit out of the way from Vinh Long but is a nice and natural setting. They also provide shuttle services to get there or onward to your next destination at a reasonable fee. We stayed 2 nights.
Positive points: It’s right on the river. The hosts were wonderful. I had a great experience with my family.
Negative points: Nothing
Review: We enjoyed our stay on the Mekong. A fantastic homestay with super awesome hosts. They helped us with transport, a mekong tour and a lovely dinner. We were within walking distance to a night market with also great food. The islet is a must visit, very relaxing. The kids enjoyed fishing in all the little ponds. Thank you!
Positive points:
Beautiful location on Mekong River. The comfortable veranda overlooking the river is great for relaxing and watching the busy river world of passing barges and local activities.
The individual rooms are basic but clean and comfortable and the shower rooms are clean and all working well. Air con also works ok.
Our host organised transport at a reasonable price in a good car and careful driver at a from our hotel in HCMC to Vien Long jetty where he picked us up by boat to bring us across the river to the homestay. He, and all the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The homestay included a good breakfast and an excellent evening meal is $8, beers $1.
We took a very interesting boat trip next morning around the river and backwaters with great information from our host. Cost around $40 for 2. We also took a trip next day to Xe Quoyt national park which was central to the Vietcong defence in the war and was well worth visiting. We were then dropped at Van Tho.
Negative points: All good!
Review: Good place, will stay again
Positive points: Tranquil setting, great public spaces, friendly staff
Review: Difficult to get to the homestay, thought we would be met with boat from ferry. Was not offered the opportunity to see fishing activities, difficult to find the host, meal (overprice) took a long to prepare, no restaurant in the area. Best to book on mainland and come to the island on ferry during daytime, a lot of mosquitos and other insects at night.
Positive points: Nice local homestay on a beautiful island by Vinh Long. Staff was super helpful and breakfast was very good. They were great in arranging transportation and were more cost effective than other options.
Negative points: Property was not super clean, nor was the room. Staff could have been quicker in responding to communications.
Positive points: Very kind and helpful hosts, the place is lovely and incredibly relaxing. Facilities very good, clean. In very easy reach of the ferry that takes you to and from Vinh Long. Perfect place to explore An Binh island, and the sunsets in the evening are breathtaking!
Review: Perfect get away from busy life in Ho Chi Minh city..They will arrange taxi pick up from HCMC for a reasonable price...the property is basic but everything works. Peaceful setting for walking or bycicle rides. The host and his wife are friendly and helpful. They offer river tour which was amazing at reasonable prices. The food they cooked was dollicious. We plan to go again and spend more time next year.
Positive points: Great location with good view over the river. Eating directly at the river. Good facilities for the pric segment.
Negative points: The location is a bit hard to find on GoogleMaps, especially at night. Travellers with motorbike (like me) should plan to arrive during daylight.
Positive points: Supper was amazing - best food that we had Vietnam. interesting place to sit back and watch life on the busy Mekong. nice cycling in the area once you get out of the concrete pathways which are a bit of a maze.
Negative points: Surprised that we looked across to Vinh Long so didn’t have a country feel but we still enjoyed it.
Review: You must stay here! Service was excellent, the owner was super friendly and get experience living like locals! I have no complaint at all.. Would recommended this place for all my friends!
Positive points:
Very nice and helpful landlords. They speak a good english and can organize for you visit of the area or book a bus for another place. You can eat local and very tasty food at anytime (ex : Mekong elephant fish spring rolls).
Last but not least, the view on Mekong is incredible especially at night.
A great experience !
