Review: Lovely family run home stay, modest and tidy facilities and very comfortable bed.
Positive points: The bed is super comfortable and large. The bathroom is a good design without getting everything wet
Negative points: The sockets were loose and sticking out could cause a fire! The kitchen leaked thru the roof.
Positive points: The host couple were very sweet and kind.
Negative points: Bathrooms were smelling a bit odd. It's possible the dampness of the rains causes it.
Positive points: The room was comfortable and good value. We were looking for a place close to the port for a morning ferry that was clean and comfortable, and this place checked all of our boxes. Breakfast was quite simple (Bali-style coffee and some pre-packaged cakes), but for given how affordable the room was, that was fine by us. We had a very nice time in the morning chatting with some of the family.
Negative points: We were offered a ride to the ferry in the morning, which seemed like a kind gesture...until it became clear that the free ride involved a trip to the family's small shop near the port. Once we got to the shop, we were heavily pressured to buy something. We demurred multiple times, but the mother did not let up and with our bags in the car it started to feel like we weren't going to be allowed to go until we bought *something*. I finally said OK to a small plastic turtle, at which point I was quoted an astronomical price of $150K IDR. (At the time I knew it was kind of high but it was our first day in the country and I hadn't gotten the exchange rate straight in my head...I just said yes to get out of what was an increasingly uncomfortable situation. I later found the same item for sale for $20K IDR). rnrnThe whole experience left a very bad taste in my mouth -- especially as we had just had a really lovely time chatting with the rest of the family over breakfast, and I was thinking to myself that this had been such a nice place to stay. I was afraid this was a bad sign of what travelling in Bali was going to be like, but luckily (?) this was the worst interaction we ended up having during our trip.
Positive points: Clean, good AC, comfy bed, lovely family. It was late when I arrived and all the warungs nearby were closed, but they shared some cake and fruit with me. They also gave me a ride to the pier in the morning so I didn't have to carry my bags.
Positive points: The owners are amazing, super helpful and welcoming:)
Positive points: Family orientated homestay,nSuper friendly and went out of their way to accommodate me.....
Negative points: Nothing....
Positive points: The warm hosts and the spacious room
Negative points: The internet was a little weak
