Review: It's a beautiful structure with neat rooms. The family is so nice and helpful. The food service is the most efficient ever. Whatever we requested was delivered perfectly on time. Very tasty local food was served by them. A great base to explore the Mekong if you need air conditioning in your room.
Review: The bed was as hard as a Papua New Guinea Prison gang leader. The fact that the swarm of American tourists that had disembarked off a cruise and were poking around our room had fresh fruits and coffee but we were treated to a nano banana that had fallen off the tree, last century was slightly galling. It's about 5km off a dirt track on a terrifying motoscooter so not one for those not travelling light. We were locked out at 7:30pm so my 40 year old boyfriend had to scale a 9ft gate to get in. Aside from that, great. Definitely not worth more than £30 a night and that's being generous.
Positive points: The dogs, and the owner had a great laugh, like Sid James on helium
Review: the staff is very nice, the house is an old colonial house with large garden , they serve me a great dinner and good lunch.the room is basic, no bed side furniture, no lamp for read in the night , no television, the internet doensnt work well.they charge me one dollar for a small bottle of water. i guess this one is very expansive for what they offer. the owner is nice and frendly person.and the food is good, i enjoy .i stay only one night.
Positive points: friendly staff. good food. nice garden
Review:
We had a fantastic stay at the Ba Duc Ancient House. The hotel is actually a wonderful homestay. The guest area is in a building behind the family home which is a beautifully maintained traditonal house. The main portion of the house has the tradtional ancestor worship cabinets and the grounds are free for guests to wander around. The owner is very willing to give you information about the house. The house is set in fruit orchards and much of the fresh fruit is served at the meals.
During our stay we were made to feel very welcome by the family and staff. The owner offered us fishing rods and baits (free of charge) to fish for cat fish in his pond. The evening meal and breakfast were served in the courtyard and the food was lovely.
The room was basic but very clean and furnished with lovely wooden items. Air con and hot water worked well. Very comfortable.
The hotel is set right on the riverside and is very quiet and peaceful, perfect get away for relaxation, or a change to see vietnam away from the tourist trail. The hotel itself is quite hard to find, i would suggest hiring a boat or private transport from Saigon or My Tho. The owner was able to sort out motorbikes and bus to get us back to My Tho afterwards, but we had some trouble finding it using public transport.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay in the Ancient House and would very much recommend this hotel.
Positive points: Beeautiful House, very welcoming family, lovely fruit orchards, great food.
Positive points:
why not if you need to stay in Cai Be but the price (1 300 000DNG, yes you read that right) is really exaggerated. We paid 300 000DNG for better places. Important to note : you do not sleep in the ancient house but in a newer, random building.
It’s clean and room is big enough. But it misses a proper glassed window, and charm. Also we arrived not so late (8 o’clock) and it was already closed. Our taxi driver had to call them as they are not on what’s app.
Finally, the area is a bit to industrial so not necessarily a pleasure to wander around… the hosts were also not particularly keen on providing information.
Food was okay but was served in very big quantities, which was not necessary…
