Review: The location is perfect! the staffs are kind. My stay is so smooth! Thank you so much
Positive points: Excellent location, very clean, friendly staff who are happy to help. Highly recommend this hostel for position.
Review: Perfect location to explore myeongdong and as a base to go to other places. Very close to the walking streets and metro station. Lots of food/coffee options and right next to a convenience store/ATM.nBasic rooms, no kettle. Small washing machine and clothes drying rack in the corridor. Basic breakfas
Positive points: Nothing.
Negative points: Avoid at all costs – worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotelnnI don’t usually write reviews, but what happened at 57 Myeongdong Hostel in Seoul was outrageous and honestly traumatic.nnI was tricked into paying for two extra nights by the receptionist, who clearly said it was for two nights—only for them to message me at 9pm on Saturday (10 HOURS after checkout, with no warning) telling me they had put my belongings in garbage bags and that I no longer had a room. Possibly to resell it at a higher rate.nnWhen I returned to figure out what happened, the receptionist yelled at me, treated me like a criminal, and called the police—for what? For questioning why they had thrown my stuff out and refused to refund the nights I had paid for. Luckily, the police were respectful, listened to both sides, and agreed that I had been wronged. But they couldn’t force the hotel to give me my money back—it was the hotel’s choice, and they chose to keep the money. No apology, no accountability.nnTo top it off, why did they wait all day to notify me, and why was I not told at checkout time? Because they were hoping I wouldn’t notice? I’ve stayed in hostels all over the world, and this is by far the worst treatment I’ve ever received. The man at reception was rude, aggressive, and dishonest. I felt scammed and humiliated.nnSave yourself the trouble. There are far better and more respectful places to stay in Seoul
Review: Friendly staff, polite and nice location.
Positive points: Nice staff, accomodating
Negative points: None
Review: Very good location. Near subway and shopping street. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms and common spaces. Free breakfast! Room and bathroom is a bit small but still comfortable. Will definitely consider on my next visit.
Positive points: Location: Great as near lots of eateries, night market and Myeongdong Subway Station. rnrnStaff: I must commend the part-time/temporary staff at the reception, William, who is friendly and speaks good English (note: He told me he would be there temporary and would return to his home country next month (i.e. June 2025 so when you visit, he might not be working there anymore). The staff who cleaned our room on 23 May 2025 was nice and thorough. Besides passing us the towels (we requested them later), she checked there were tissue and toilet paper in the room. rnrnBuilding ground floor elderly man: friendly and helpful as when he saw my mum had difficulties moving outside the building to the taxi (after mum hurt her knee and we were going to the hospital), he offered to help support my mum. Thank you very much as uncle is elderly too. rnrnFacilities: Provided cute and small washing machine with detergent for free use which was surprising and a plus point. rnrnRoom and toilet were clean, and they do provide cleaning service if you stay a number of nights. rnrnBreakfast: There were bread, salad, cereal, dumplings etc with coffee/tea/milk/juice, which was a good variety for a hostel setting. I see that the staff replenished the items at 930am (although breakfast ends at 10am breakfast timing from 7am to 10am), which was a nice gesture.
Negative points: Small room: known from the pictures and room size before we booked, so alright for us. No chair or table in the room, still ok as this has been compensated with chairs and tables located just outside the room.nnDirections to hostel: should direct guests to Exit 3 of Myeongdong Subway Station as there is an escalator (not Exit 5 although nearer to hostel but no escalator), since when guests arrive they will have luggage.nnStaff: The staff I met on 23 May 2025 morning (before breakfast timing) at level 13 was indifferent and impatient when I asked and clarified a few times about a hospital to bring my mum to as she hurt her knee. I might have gone at a bad time (630am as he was preparing breakfast), but it was a situation whereby I would like to bring my mum to the hospital early in the morning.nnFacilities: The floor/ground at level 11 (our room level) and level 13 (reception) are uneven (hostel rooms at level 11 to 13, but I didn't visit level 12). At certain places after exiting the lifts, the ground is slanted. Unfortunately it was here (at level 11, after exiting lift) that my mum fell, likely due to the uneven slanted ground, and had to visit the hospital. Due to her injury, we had to cut short our trip to Seoul (and other parts of South Korea) and return home. Thus, I had to cancel my booking at this place for a future date incurring a one-night room charge (as it was after the free cancellation period).nnThis place might not be a good choice for those with some mobility issues due to the slanted ground.nnSuggestion: to install grab bars at areas where the ground is slanted, or use different coloured carpet or markings to highlight those parts, and better lighting at those areas. I must say the lighting is dim at the slanted ground area at level 11 after exiting the lift.nnUnfortunately, the cons cancelled the pros, as my mum was injured at the hostel due to the slanted ground, and our trip was cut short, so I have given a low rating for this hostel.
Review: Stayed here for a night before our flight back to PH. The staffs are very accommodating, they listened to our needs. This is a budget-friendly hostel near Myeongdong Street. Very accessible to tourists who's main priority in Seoul is to shop.
Positive points: Good location in Myondong
Negative points: Nothing
Review: Friendly & accommodating staff, n5 min walk to Airport limousine bus stop and Myeongdong subway station. 1 min to Myeongdong shopping street, shops, restaurants, money changers-practically everything is within walking distance. 6 min walk to Nandaemun traditional market, Shinsegae shopping center, Lotte Department store, etc.nGood breakfast w varying menu daily. nnI will definitely stay here again
Positive points: LocationrnEasy to check in rnI also like the view of the room overlooking Shinsegae intersection
Negative points: None.
Review: In the heart of myeongdong!
Positive points: Very good location …
Review: Location of the hostel is best in Myeongdong area. View from rooms are extraordinary. But room size is much smaller than what is shown in the picture. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast is simple but most things will be over on in first hour. Overall good experience
Positive points: Location is superb, near bus/train station, even the airport bus, and to the streets of Myeongdong and other restaurants. Room size is just enough, with view of the city. Bathroom is small, but I kinda expected it from my previous accomodations and has the basic stuff (shower and toilet bowl, shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, soap and towels) so I'm not disappointed. Rooms can be cleaned depending on how many days you'll be staying. Staffs are very helpful. Breakfast is great!! Free and with variations everyday so you won't get bored with it. Elevator is working.
Negative points: Not really a problem, but the air conditioning system/heating system is centralized. So if they decide to turn on the heater because the other guests are feeling cold, and you on the other hand is not feeling cold, then you have no choice but to bear with the heating system. The only solution is if you open your window and let the weather cool your room.
Review: Very cozy place to stay and staff is very accommodating. Would highly recommend to anyone heading to that area.
Positive points: The staff were kind and helpful at every point. The instructions were easy to follow and the location was easy to find.nThe location was perfect and close to everything. Subway stations, bus stops, Myeondong market, Nandemun market, and so many other places. It was a walkable distance to many attractions as well. A lot of convenience stores and restaurants around.nThe hostel also had a pleasant scent which is always a warm and pleasant welcome.nThe bed was comfortable and the AC was great for nights when it was a bit hot.nThey provide you with some basic essentials like body wash, shampoo and conditioner and a towel big enough to wrap around your body (if you need it). nDepending on your number of stay, they offer a free cleaning service which I thought was great.nThe elderly security man for the building was super nice and friendly and always smiled and greeted me each time he saw me.nThe breakfast was good with a variety of options each time. I appreciate the staff for taking time to make it as I saw a staff making kimbap late at night that will be served for breakfast the following day and that gave me another level of appreciation for the effort and time that was put in it.
Negative points: The room is small (didn't bother me much as I don't need a lot of space) and the bathroom was tiny. The fridge was really small and could barely hold anything so I had to be careful not to buy too much that i would need to keep in the fridge. nThe only microwave was the communal microwave in the kitchen, which meant every time you needed to use a microwave, you needed to go to the kitchen which wasn't super convenient.nMy room was right beside the dinning room which meant once guests came out to eat, I automatically had to wake up cos of the noise (Using an earplug helped with that). nThere was a huge pillar in the center of my room so I couldn't really watch the TV while lying on my bed. I had to sit at an angle to watch the TV which wasn't necessarily convenient (this didn't bother me much as I wasn't in the room for long periods of time).
Review: Highly recommend the best hostel
Positive points: Excellent. Will stay again in the future.
