Golden Rose Hotel

Review: We initially booked an ocean-view room for two nights, and extended it to three nights as we liked Con Son. The view from our second floor room was partially obscured by the large hotel signage. And for what we paid - close to 2 million VND per night, I’d have expected the hotel to offer more in terms of facilities. Its saving grace is the location. Couldn’t fault the staff - they were courteous and pleasant to deal with. When checking out, we were asked to pay 30,000 VND for two small bottles of drinking water we had consumed. I naively thought they were free as every other hotel we’ve stayed in Vietnam provides two free bottles of drinking water. It’s not a lot of money, but it did leave a bad taste in my mouth. Apparently, only the water provided in the glass bottle is free, but how would one know? Perhaps I should have been more diligent in google translating every sign in the room.

Review: The place is right in front of the beach. Very easy to go around other places inside the town. Breakfast was good. However the hot water system was not working, bum gun was broken, and the wifi signal in the room I was at was very weak. Sometimes could not use with my phone at all. So I had to use the dining hall to work, and it was a nice place to work actually: very quiet when not at breakfast time, beautiful view and consistent wifi.

Review: Initially, I complained that my ocean view room was more of a tree view. Promptly, the staff and management addressed this and relocated me to a room with a better ocean view within 20 minutes—a testament to good management and a satisfied guest. The hotel's location is convenient, allowing easy walking access to anywhere in the small city. The breakfast at the hotel was modest, featuring freshly cooked eggs, likely due to low occupancy. I encountered only a handful of other guests. The staff were exceptionally friendly and resourceful, offering motor scooter rentals. I took their advice and toured the entire island in about 3 hours, stopping at the recommended, breathtaking viewpoints. To sum up, I highly recommend this hotel.

Review: Clean, basic, adjusted to vietnamese customers. Very friendly and helpful staff. Free transport from and to the airport, need to contact the reception in advance.

Review: The hotel is located right at the heart of the city, just across from the beach. The room is clean although it is not that spacious. The staff is friendly and breakfast is delicious. Their food is quite repetitive but by the local standard of an island, that is totally acceptable.

The hotel also offers a free drop-off service from the hotel to the airport/Bến Đầm port for free of charge. For pick-up, I am not sure if it remains free.

I will definitely stay at this hotel again should I come back.

Review: The hotel is nicely situated.

We arrived at 11:30 which was before the 2pm check-in time. However the reception staff managed to have a room available for us in about 30 minutes, which was good.

The room was large, bright and had a nice view of the sea. However the sink in the bathroom had a problem- it was very slow to drain - the problem was not solved before we left.

We went for breakfast on the second day at about 8am, breakfast being served until 9am. When we arrived al the hot food dishes had been turned off, as had the tea and coffee. So everything was very cold and unappetising. We were offered an omelette as an alternative, which when it arrived was nothing more than a fried egg.

On the second evening at about 10:15 there was a horrible load noise - which sounded like a hammer drill - drilling concrete! This continued all night - just after midnight I went to complain to the receptionist- who said they didn’t hear any noise! The receptionist eventually came to the room floor and heard the noice, and said they had no idea what the problem was! We eventually got to sleep at about 3:30am. We were advised by the receptionist on duty the noise was caused by the solar heating system!!! However there was no apology for the inconvenience.

As a result of not getting to sleep until 3:30, we slept through and missed breakfast.

Actually missing breakfast was probably a good thing! On our final morning we again went for breakfast at about 8am, this time there was no food! Apparently the hotel was not busy, so they were not cooking food. There were some cold cuts of meat, a couple of tomatoes and some very dry cucumber! The fruit juice was so watered down it was undrinkable and the coffee was lukewarm.

When we checked out, we had arranged their airport transportation, when it arrived it was a small SUV with other people in. There was. No room for any luggage _ eventually we were taken to another hotel to change vehicles! The hotel had said there was no cost for the transport, however when we got to the airport, the driver was demanding payment- which they did not get.

I would definitely not recommend this hotel.

Review: We had a very nice stay at Golden Rose. Huong at the front desk was at great assistance and we appreciate d her kindness very much - thank you Huong.
We stayed in 3 seaview suites and enjoyed the view tremendously.
The breakfast was average so we went to another restaurant the second morning.
The hotel is located right across the street from the beach and walking distance to town so very convenient location.
