Positive points: Lunar Dive resort was clean and spacious. The staff were friendly during our stay and recommended some nearby food. We dove with Lunar too. Pieter and Elsa were extremely educational and friendly. We did 2 dives with Wayan who was a rockstar at the beach and was a great and patient guide. Highly recommend. rnrnAnd the resort used to be a Harley stop over for touring motos so there's cool HD decor around. Very tuff.

Negative points: Not a fault of Lunar, but we didn't expect tulamben to be such a ghost town. Diving is really the only attraction to the area.

Positive points: Great quiet hotel with a few rooms and lovely pool. Great location to dive from as the sites are just minutes from the hotel. Great dive operation with the best rental gear we’ve had in SE Asia so far. Nice and professional guides with full 60 min dives.

Negative points: Unfortunately, as it is the lower season the staff wasn’t ready for a last minute booking or walk in. The bathroom wasn’t clean which I easily sorted out but the kettle has mold and worms inside which was not comforting.

Positive points: Great place and location, clean, and with very friendly staff. Pieter and Elsa are amazing hosts with great advice on the area, and the staff are friendly and attentive - both for the accomodation and diving. Well-equipped dive shop and good prices on diving too, especially for those who stay with them. Would definitely stay again.

5.0 Budget stay with some issues. - Marina 20-09-2023

Positive points: Good location for diving and snorkeling. Decent breakfast for the price range - fresh fruit, eggs, toast with jam and butter, coffee. Convenience store with ATM nearby. The pool is cool too. Upper floor units are sunny, lower floor units are more in the shade and cooler temps. The bed was ok. WiFi was ok.

Negative points: We really got unlucky with bathrooms here. The first room assigned had no door for the bathroom - not by design, it was just missing. Not great for privacy and odor containment. AC didn’t work and being on the second floor, the sun heated the room a lot. We asked to change. The other room had a bathroom door and the AC worked, but there was a weird chemical smell in the bathroom. Traced it to some naphthalene tablets left on the floor - pesticides. Took those outside. After some time, that smell evaporated, but some other weird smell remained. Not like toilet smell, something like a powerful cleaner, but quite unpleasant. Was too tired and didn’t bother complaining. Should have done that, in retrospect, because the smell did not clear out. Otherwise it’s a decent budget option. Close to the road so noise is there, but it’s similar to white noise.

Negative points: Very minor, but the shower drain in Room 3 was slow. Just resulted in a wet floor, nothing a towel didn’t fix

Positive points: Due to unforeseen circumstances, our original room wasn’t available when we got there so we were moved to the Lunar Dive Resort Villas ~5 min drive down the road. We’d chosen the resort because it was so close to a dive shop we’d booked before the hotel, and he staff was extremely accommodating and able to bring us to and from town. Breakfast was good and all the staff were very kind.
