Ko Hostel - Kenting Original

Review: The receptionist was very insistent on charging me 200 NTD for taking a blanket from another bed in the dorm room. I informed him that I got very cold late at night due the AC (it was after midnight in fact) and I didn’t feel like it was appropriate for me to bother him at that time. He said I signed a contract and it was mentioned that anything extra will be charged.nnFirstly, Mandarin is not my native language so I didn’t understand him 100% when he was explaining the rules of the hostel. Secondly, I am completely appalled at how stingy this hostel is and why it thinks it is a good idea to penny-and-dime me for an extra blanket. nnI informed the receptionist that I have never been charged for an extra blanket in all the hostels that I’ve stayed in and that they really need to get rid of their “cheap” rules. I asked to speak to the manager, and he replied boldly with “I am the manager.”nnYeah, right. I saw you speaking on the phone with the actual manager when you were assisting my friend. The service here is truly unbelievable…

Positive points: The hostel was uniquely decorated with a lot of common places to relax, free coffee and tea and super nice staff. Highly recommend!

Review: This hostel has everything you'd expect. Double bed bunk rooms were a new thing to me. The mattresses and linens made me sleep really sound and tight, I loved it.nnThis place is great if you're in Kenting for the nightlife or the partying but don't want to bring it back to the hostel.nnThe only thing that was very unpleasant in my stay was that over the daytime the room was very humid although the AC was on. Something wasn't working there. I hope they fixed it by now.

Review: Close to bus stop next to Police Station and the night market and beach. Was able to contact staff easily when not there and allowed self check in as I arrived late. Could hire snorkel and fins which was great.

Positive points: the staff is super nice and they also provide conditioner in the shower!!

Positive points: Kenting Original Hostel has a great location, it was easy to get to from the bus and was a very central location for enjoying the Kenting Nightmarket. It was also easy to walk to several of the smaller beaches in the area and was quiet, even in spite of overlooking the Nightmarket. The front desk woman also had the cutest dog in the world!
