10.0 A good place to enjoy Korea - Jue 04-11-2014

Review: Booked the largest room for 4 including a living room.rnI have to say something about the owner couple first. The gentlemen doesn't talk a lot but always very helpful. The nice lady is such a warm-hearted lady. She told us they used to live in Qingdao for 5 years. She prepared us very nice breakfast with homemade bread and soup, she invited us to see the sunrise in the early morning with her, even if we didn't join due to our laziness... She help us take a lot of picutres and had them print out nicely.rnThe hanok is located in the centural, easy to get to the metro station and other attractive spots. Seperate bath room was a bit inconvinient but not a big problem if you want to experience the local accomadation.rnWill choose to stay here again if chance is given.

Positive points: Traditional hanok, location, enthusiastic owner

6.7 Friendly owner but distant location - Yvonne 27-08-2014

Review: Hanok Eugene's House is great if you want to experience a night or two of authentic hanok accommodation. But I wouldn't recommend staying for longer than two nights. The location of the hanok was about 10-15 minutes walk from Hyehwa station - it's quiet at night so be aware if you're traveling alone or if female in pairs. nThe downside about Eugene's House is the room might be smaller than you expected. I had a double bedroom with a private bathroom - it was so small that my friend and I literally either sat on the beds or have us standing in the tiny bathroom. There was barely any space in between for our suitcases. But with the cost of our stay, I think it's acceptable. Another thing is the hygiene, the private bathroom is clean. But the authentic Korean-styled decorations might be left with some dusts and the corners of the room might not be entirely swept clean. nHowever, the owners of the House are very helpful. The lady (I guess she's Eugene?) speaks fluent Mandarin and partial English. She took lots of photos for us when we arrived at the Hanok and even printed a nice one for us as souvenir. She helped us to call a taxi and made sure we arrived at wherever we wanted to. We really appreciated her help. nOverall, Eugene's House is worth of a try!

Positive points: Very helpful and friendly owners, Quiet location, authentic experience

10.0 Beautiful homestay. - Xanthe 31-03-2025

Positive points: This is a beautiful place to stay, like staying with a relative. I had everything I needed. Be aware: if you really want a standard Western hotel with an ordinary bed, daily room cleaning and a breakfast service, pass on this. It’s Korean quilts on the floor. But I slept well on my little loft bed, and our host or “Eugene Mama” couldn’t have been kinder, even when I arrived late after a delayed flight. Best of all, she took me on an early morning walk in the park to see sunrise over the city. She is a runner - so if you are too you’ll have lots in common! It’s not the most central, but the area is a lovely residential spot and the MTR is ten minutes walk. By the way, taxis don’t drop right outside so make sure you have the booking.com map open the first time you arrive to navigate your way in. And - no locks on doors on the outside. There were attachments for a padlock on my door so maybe you could put one on if you are worried. nnI would definitely stay here again.

9.3 Great experience, recommended to all - Yen 30-06-2014

Review: Hanok Eugene's house is a great choice for people who want to experience traditional cultural stay instead of other normal and typical hotels. The owners are friendly and gave us a lot of useful information. We stayed in the triple room with a bath room attached, so it's really convenient for us. We are not sure about rooms with shared toilet though. It's really comfortable to stay there and traditional breakfasts were serve every morning with breads as well. Besides that, the owner printed out 3 photos of us in the hanok and gave us as gift/ souvenir, which made us felt really warm and sweet. Overall, it's a nice place to stay but people with back problems are not recommended to stay here.

Positive points: friendly owners, cultural experience, quite and nice environment

7.3 reasonable price, friendly staffs, nice building. - kang 02-10-2013

Review: First of all, this is a home stay, just like a B& B, so don't expect anything, just feel the local culture and warm welcome of staffs.nnThe building is really good, the garden is beautiful, although the room is really small, and i guessed last guest smoking inside the room , therefor i can smell it, I smoking too, but i hate ppl smoking inside the room.nnwhen I first arrive i can't find the building, a restaurant owner nearby saw me and asked me if i am stay in the eugene's house, he was very friendly to bring me to the eugene's house. And it was a sunday noon, so the eugene mama was actually in church. If you are plan to visit eugene's house in sunday, go there after church time.nnWifi is good, breakfast is also good. nice place to experience Korean culture.nn(If you take metro then transfer by bus, DO show the map of Eugene's house from their website, otherwise you will have a hard time to find it. near by landmark is a school building with olympic sign. n

Positive points: cultural building, friendly staffs, Quiet.

10.0 Eugene Hanok in the Heart of Hyehwa - Salim 11-09-2024

Positive points: The property is absolutely beautiful and the owners are both so friendly! I was even guided to the gas station and learned how to pay for bus fare - very difficult to learn how to do in another country. Truly it is the most hospitality I have received staying anywhere. The location is perfect and situated close to Hyehwa station, as well as plenty of delicious food and nice cafes. I highly recommend staying here, I only wish I stayed longer!

Negative points: Nothing!

7.7 Comfortable, cosy and great experience - WEE 26-08-2013

Review: Located near Insadong, the palaces and not too far from Myeong Dong and Dongdaemun. However, as the hanok is not located along the main road, some cab drivers have problem locating, will be helpful to have the address on hand for them to locate using the GPS. Lady owner is very friendly, makes nice breakfast and, can speaks other languages such as, English, Mandarin and Japanese. Also helpful in recommending places to visit and restaurants. Great experience of Korean style house, family room is nice with 2 bedrooms and a living room. However, the washroom for family room is located outside (beside) the rooms, so a little inconvenient especially with elderly, but there are other rooms with washrooms located within though. The hanok is nicely decorated with traditional stuffs, rooms are well maintained and clean.

Positive points: Friendly owner, cosy, nice experience

1.0 Horrible place, lying and deceiving host, this listing should be taken down from booking - Rafael 28-04-2024

Positive points: The host acted friendly first but basically they scammed me on this booking. The place is horrible. I explained to them that I can not physically stay in such conditions to which they agreed to provide me a partial refund for the remainder of the days and now they just ghosting the support and not returning money

Negative points: The room feels like a dog house. rnrnThe toilet and shower and super dirty, filthy and smells like some public toilet.

8.0 handy location, comfortable place - Enid 22-08-2013

Review: I liked this place and was happy to stay there for a few days when I arrived in Seoul - I also booked to stay again on my way out. It's very convenient for the main palaces and is about ten minutes walk from a busy area with lots of coffee shops, cafes and restaurants. I found the owner very helpful - he helped my book my flight to Jeju and did my laundry for me. The only problem was finding the place, which I did with the help of various people on my way from the airport and finally a taxi driver, who actually rang him, so he could come and get me. This happened at around 1.40am and we had to get him out of bed!

Positive points: location, helpful owners, nice room

10.0 Exceptional - Julien 16-04-2024
